2 - Invented by Edwin Perkins in 1927
- Originally called Fruit Smacks then Kool-Ade then
finally Kool-Aid. - 7 original flavors were cherry, lemon-lime,
grape, orange, strawberry, and raspberry. - 1955 Root beer and Lemon-lime became original.
- During Great Depression Kool-Aid was only 5
cents. - Distributed nationwide in 1920
- Off shoots of Kool-Aid are pie fillings and ice
cream mixes but the public didnt like it.

- Started company in 1914 but he was selling
perfume and calling cards, called Perkins
Products Company. - Found a way to remove the liquid from Kool-Aid
because it use to be sold in 4oz. Bottles. - 1918 married high school sweetheart named Kitty.
- He sold his rights to General Food Corporation in
1953. - Perkins passed away in 1961.
4 Lifesavers
LIFESAVERS
1912 invented by Clarence Crane -chocolate
maker from Cleveland Ohio In the summer time
the life savers wouldnt melt in the summer
heat. He bought a hole puncher because he saw
the pharmacists punching holes to make
pills. -so he started punching holes in
lifesavers. Lifesavers got there name by the
lifesavers you throw overboard for passengers
overboard. In 1913 he sold his rights to Edward
Noble for 2,900. Noble sold many flavors
including the original peppermint.
5Invented by Ruth Wakefield in 1930 Graduated
from Framingham State Normal School Department of
Household Arts in 1924 Worked as dietitian and
lectured on food until her and her husband bought
a tourist lodge, they named Toll House Inn She
prepared recipes for the meals served for the
guest at the Inn. Her favorite recipe was Butter
Drop Do cookies -the recipe needed bakers
chocolate and she didnt have any instead she
used a semi-sweet chocolate and she cut it up
into little pieces. The chocolate pieces didnt
melt all the way the only softened

6.The chocolate bar was a gift from Andrew Nestle
of the Nestle Chocolate Co. .Since the Toll
House Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe became popular
the sales of Nestle increased. .Nestle printed
the Recipe on the packaging and Wakefield would
have a lifetime supply of Nestle
Chocolate. .Ruth Wakefield died in 1977 .Now
Nestle cookies are the biggest selling in the
United Stated.
7Popsicles
- Frank Epperson
- 1905 invented the popsicle
- He left his fruit flavored soda with a stir stick
in it outside, the temp. dropped that night. - The fruit flavored soda froze to the stick.
- 11 years old
- 1923 he got a patent for ice frozen to a stick
- Original name was the Epsicle then later his
children changed it to popsicle. - The sticks were first used from Birch wood.
- 30 different flavors
- Favorite is taste-tingling orange.

- Consumer products have a really big impact on
the World! We make hundreds of dollars because
the products that other people have made. We also
like these product so much that we buy them so
that the store and the people that work at the
store gets paid. Some of these people that made
them did not mean to it was by accident. Arent
we glad they did!
