Wilderness Walking
Alone in the gloom, wilderness walking Lost and
afraid, hiding and stalking. So dark looms the
night, it steals all my fight Its leaving me
cowering, shaking and howling Its putting my
soul to flight.
So slow dawns new light, it takes all my
might Just to keep all the demons at bay. Im
starting and stalling, fast running then
falling Im crawling on through a new day.
The gloom is returning and with it a burning My
heart dies amid all the flames. The dark comes to
claim me, my courage it fails me My tears and my
longing me shame.
Cold blackness oer wraps me, its blanket entraps
me And stifles my last conscious
thought. Redemption is nearing, as all of my
being Fades into the distance as nought.

  • The recovery model seeks to draw together the
very diverse issues that are affecting the whole
person. This holistic model has within it
    spiritual care.
  • Spirituality has a part to play in recovery.

10
  • The mainspring of recovery is hope.
  • Hope springs eternal in the heart of man
    Alexander Pope.
  • Hope is to look at life with expectation.
  • Hope is to trust, to have confidence in..
  • Recovery of hope is our shared task.

11
  • According to one definition, The spiritual
dimension tries to be in harmony with the
universe, strives for answers about the infinite,
and comes especially into focus at times of
emotional stress, physical and mental illness,
    loss, bereavement and death
  • This desire for wholeness of being lies in the
essence of what it is to be human. Spirituality
extends across creed and culture at the same
time spirituality's felt as unique to each and
    every person.

12
  •  Religion is a system of beliefs, with sacred
traditions, rituals, rites of passage. Religions
offer community based worship, each faith having
its own set of beliefs. It is necessary for there
to be respect for all faiths even when we do not
    share the beliefs.

13
  • Hope is the universal experience that orients us
    to the future.
  • Hope draws us out of the present towards a future
    whose perspective transforms the present.

14
  • Loss of hope has us feeling that things will
always be the way they are.
  • Transformation can only come when something
    materially affects how we are.
  • When we are feeling unloved and someone does a
    small kindness .

15
  • The route to recovery is shown in the care
pathways of our adult mental health services. The
care pathways are central to the experience of
every user of services. Is our map readable and
    are the signposts clear?
  • Are there any log jams?

16
  • I was bold enough to make mine a people carrier.
The CPA process is our vehicle, it is symbolic of
our need to work in partnership. It holds within
it every care contributor. The entire skill mix
should perhaps transform it into at least a mini
    bus or even a coach.

17
Do you know ?
  • Spirituality often involves seeking answers about
the infinite and about those issues of meaning
    and purpose.
  • This is important at times of stress, illness,
    loss, bereavement and death.
  • Spirituality is evident in everyone, it is at the
    heart of social inclusion.

18
Core parts of spiritual care.Having the
opportunity to do something useful or
pleasurable.Being treated with respect and
dignityBeing able to express feelings to
staffReceiving encouragement to make sense of
lifes experiences including their
illness Allowing time and space for a persons
religious needs
19
Evidence identified by patients who received good

self control, self esteem and confidence.Faster,
easier recovery, helped by the healthy grieving
of loss and the opportunity to move towards ones
full potential.Improved relationships with self,
others and with God, creation, nature.A new
sense of meaning to life accompanied by the hope
and peace of mind that enables people to accept
and live with lifes problems.what keeps you
going?.
20
  • In spiritual care, spiritual conversation is
mutual self revelation., it means the disclosure
of deeper realities in two or more peoples
lives. It pre-supposes trust, acceptance and a
desire to learn from one another.

21
  • CPA and our care pathways are all meant to
    reflect the possibility for spiritual
    conversation. Within spiritual conversation lies
the possibility of the recovery of hope.
