Project Outline/ Goals
  • Design a gift suitable for a visitor to
    Rensselaer
  • Use processes available in the Advanced
    Manufacturing Laboratory (AML).

What is a Gift?
  • Used to welcome or show thanks
  • Meant to leave a good impression
  • Universities may give gifts to encourage
    donations or to attract new students

Five Ideas to Expand
  • Used the selection criteria
  • Narrowed our list of ideas down to just five
    ideas a white board, fork doorstop, ice cube
    tray, puzzle, and a bottle/can cover.

  • We narrowed down the ideas to just two using our
    selection criteria
  • Dry Erase Board and Ice Cube Tray

  • Was little we could do to make an ice cube tray
    fun and innovative
  • Many ways to change the white board mirror,
    pictures, cork board, magnets, LEDs, shapes

    message board, string to hold markers, bag to
    hold misc. items, energy, digital aspects,
    mirror, serial , supply pushpins,
    reminder/reward for calling home
  • Impressions Innovative, creative, driven for
    success, respect for freshman, unique, focus on
    design, organized, involved in business,
    thoughtful, fun, easy, care as to what kind of
    experience you have, good for your door, and
    cumbersome to carry all day
