  • In 1987, the South of England, Conservatives got
    96.6 of the seats compared to Labours 1.7.
  • While in the North and Wales, Labour received
    70.6 to Conservatives 17.8.
  • More recently though, in 2001, The gap between
    Labour and Conservative in the south of England
    decreased massively.

Why?
  • The north is more working class and they will,
    therefore, go for more of a collectivist approach
    to the running of the country Labour.
  • The South is more affluent and will prefer a more
    individualist approach Conservative.

  • SNP are favoured in the north, along with the
    Liberal Democrats, and the highlands while those
    in the south of Scotland in places like Glasgow
    are more likely to vote for Labour.
