Welcome!
  • Revue is an old UT tradition that was lost during
    the 60s and then brought back by UTLB in 1995
  • Since then Texas Revue has served as the largest
    talent showcase and variety show at the
    university.

Judging Criteria
  • The hope of last year's committee was to create
    categories that allowed acts to compete for four
    different awards rather than limiting them to one
    category and then best overall. 
  • We will continue with that system this year.

Best Technical Performance
  • Best timing, precision, coordination (for both
    indiv. and group acts) 
  • Best use of stage (if applicable)
  • Should reward complexity/difficulty of act
    (including instrument proficiency for indiv.
    acts)
  • Most skillful performance

Best Artistic Performance
  • Best creativity, originality, and stage presence
  • Should reward strong emotional, inspirational, or
    expressive content
  • Should consider artistic qualities of performance
    such as sets, props, costumes, musicality, and
    choreography

Ovation Award
  • Best audience involvement
  • Best audience response
  • Most energetic and entertaining
  • Best attention-getting devices and ensembles
  • LOUDEST audience response as determined by our
    judges

  • Contains the strongest combination of all of the
    above criterion.

Student Vote 7
  • Students will be able to vote on-line on our
    website using their UT EID.
  • This vote will be considered when deciding the
    BEST OVERALL award.
  • Given that the Main Mall factors into awards, all
    acts must comply with Texas Revue policies in
    order to stay eligible.

Policy for Competing for Awards
  • 7 minute time limit strictly enforced at both
    shows
  • Do not introduce your act. If you want to say
    something about your performance or your group
    the biography is the place to do that. (If this
    means that you need to revise your bio then let
    us know.)
  • The Hudsons
  • No dedications
  • Do not throw anything during the Bass show
    (glitter, water, glow sticks, shirts)

Movement Through Bass
  • You will be accompanied by a Texas Revue
    Committee member.
  • During the act in which you are not performing
    you will be sitting in the upper balcony.
  • During your act you will (1)begin in your
    dressing room (2) be escorted to the stage at the
    appropriate time (3) proceed to the green room,
    where you will wait until your entire Act is over

Green Room Etiquette
  • This room is right off stage and we can hear you
    on stage.
  • Please do not make us be kindergarten teachers.
  • As the contact person you are responsible for
    making sure that your committee knows that it
    needs to be quiet.we understand how exciting it
    is, but please be respectful of the act on stage.

Ending of the Bass Show
  • Acts will be lead to stage
  • They will be arranged in the wings
  • We will have a curtain call for each act.
  • Do not come on stage until your act is called
  • And bow then exit to where you came from
  • The Bass show is a professional show and the
    ending of the show should reflect that.

Tickets to Bass
  • 2 general admission tickets per person in each
    act.
  • Your contact person will let you know how to get
    them
  • Tickets are available beginning April 1st.
  • Group tickets are available on-line

  • This is your show, the more people that come the
    more exposure your group gets.
