- Project Goals
- Create an autonomous recycling robot.
- Design an extensible robotics platform.
- To use advancement in technology to better refine
the recycling process - Making the recycling process more efficient and
effortless. - Creative way to improve awareness of recycling.
Operational Flow Chart Using the robot plans
that we created, and the parts we selected, we
designed this flowchart to describe the robots
course of action. By following this chart, the
robot will be able to stay within its design
parameters while satisfying the project
goals.
- Overview
- The robot must be entirely autonomous. It will
need the following components to achieve the task
it is designed to perform. - Microcontroller
- Processes data from sensors and controls all
subsystems. - Robotic Arm
- Capable of wide range of motion on four joints
and is capable of lifting 100g. - Gripper will contain multiple sensors.
- Sensors
- Includes bumper and distance sensors for
navigation. - Includes current and pressure sensors for object
identification. - Sorting Process
- Uses sensor data to correctly select different
recycling containers. - Battery
- A rechargeable battery that provides enough power
for all components. - Design Process
-
Results
- Conclusion
- Design can be modified and customized to
implement different applications required by
various customers. - Completing the design phase allows construction
of a physical prototype. - Project provides in depth knowledge on
interfacing hardware and software components. - Uses technology to creatively educate the public
on the importance of recycling.
