AIM OF THE PROJECT
  • To promote networking of existing and planned
    logistics centres in the BSR
  • To create co-operation of this field between EU
    and non-EU countries
  • To enhance the role of logistics centres in
    spatial development
  • To make the logistics chains more effective
  • To improve the general competitiveness of the
    logistics companies

  • Planning of Logistics Centres (leader Ludwik
    Kondratowicz, Maritime Institute, Poland)
  • Networking of Logistics Centres (leader Kent
    Bentzen, FDT Association of Danish Transport
    Centres, Denmark)
  • ICT systems for Logistics Centres (leader Horst
    Pahl, Technikzentrum Fördergesellschaft mbH,
    Germany)

WP 1 PLANNING OF LOGISTICS CENTRES
  • Focus
  • To develop the planning of location and internal
    operations of logistics centres taking into
    consideration logistics efficiency, intermodality
    possibilities, regional development and
    environmental values

  • Comparative survey of selected logistics centres
    in the Baltic Sea Region
  • Analysis of methods of planning real and virtual
    logistics centres at different phases of the
    planning process. Implementation of selected
    planning methods in case studies.
  • A book on planning methodology of logistics
    centres

WP 2 Networking of Logistics Centres
  • Focus
  • To increase internal and external integration of
    the centres in order to create new service
    concepts and to strengthen the role of logistics
    centres

  • Preparation of a handbook containing information
    about the best practise of the existing logistics
    centres and co-operation
  • New service concepts for logistics centres
  • Development and implementation of a co-operation
    Forum for Logistics Centres in the Baltic Sea
    Region

WP 3 ICT Systems for Logistics Centres
  • Focus
  • To develop ICT-solutions and their applications
    in the logistics centres in order to make
    operations more efficient especially for the
    small and medium sized logistics companies, to
    enhance networking among the logistics centres
    and link outside business activities to the
    Logistics Centres activities

  • Analysis of the current ICT processes and
    ICT-demands on the networking of the logistics
    centres and involved companies
  • Implementation of a dynamic and qualifying
    pilot-toolbox for Logistics Centre Network
  • Testing with logistics centres to be selected in
    different countries
