Title: Progress report on coatings for SPSU
1Progress report on coatings for SPSU
Coating in the configuration E//B Situation for
coating of SPS magnets during suhtdown

2Sample produced with E//B same geometry as MBA
magnet
Mini-setup for testing of MBA geometry
MBA chamber cross section
Graphite rods

Aim create a E-component ?B (magnetron effect is
there only in this case) to increase the path of
electrons and effectiveness of ionization
4CAr_7 in E//B setup
Main problem very slow deposition rate (30h)!
Possibly cured with floating rods instead of
grounded
5Design for the MBB version of coating
instrumentation
Courtesy of G.Foffano
Other configuration with bars instead of round
rods is also designed
6SPS Magnet coating for test
- -Last mechanical parts for coating of MBA
geometry (as the non- radioactive prototype we
have in 181) from the CERN workshop are
scheduled for 30/1. - Drawing for parts specific to MBB almost ready
- - mini-setup for MBB geometry already tested the
coating rete is higher than for the MBA case - Next
- -coating of prototype MBA with liner will be
skipped - -coating of of MBB with liner will be done for
testing in Bdg 867 - Cleaning and coating of MBB magnets in Bdg 867
(week 10 according to present planning!) - Two possible scenarios for week 11(-12)
- -Minimum coat one MBB magnet
- Maximum coat 3 MBB magnets
