- You start to shake uncontrollably when you walk
past anything computerish at Best Buy, Costco,
etc. - Any commercial on TV dealing with technology
creates the urge to run and hide.

several seconds. - Mouse(s) scare you no matter whether they are
mechanical or furry!! - When a technology training meeting is called, you
schedule a dentist appointment.

- The Food Network has fantastic learning shows on
origins of food. - Many other cable programs have fantastic learning
possibilities for your students.

- Show your students snippets from movies/tv shows
to add to your curriculum. - Enjoy the extras on DVDs to add to your
students knowledge. (We did this with Monsters
Inc. to get ready for a field trip to Nemo.)

- Take pictures of your students and create a
memory book of your year together. - Go on a photo scavenger hunt with your class
- Take photos and blow them up and cut out certain
sections. See if your students can identify the
picture.

- Have your students act out book reports and
history projects. - Allow your students to create and produce their

- Mentors Find someone (has to be patient) who
will team with you and teach you 1 on 1. - Find a newsgroup to belong to where you can post
your questions and have them answered for novice
users.

- Find a piece of relevant software and learn to
use it. Conquer one piece at a time. - Sink or swim. Just go for it. Sit down, grasp
the mouse, and click. I promise you cant break
the computer.

- If you teach the older students, have them teach
the software to their peers and also to you.
Have them generate directions that you can keep
in a notebook! Great way for peer learning.

- Many schools are now calling for teachers to be
technology certified. - College students have to take several tech
courses prior to graduation. - Students in the 5th Grade and below have NOT
known a world without computers.

- Accreditation, in the future, will include
technology integration. - Parents will be expecting technology use as a
daily norm. - Students will be expecting technology use as a
daily norm.

Add to that as your comfort level increases! - Find someone to team teach with.and learn from
each other. - Use the technology to SUPPORT your curriculum and
not RUN it!
