History
  • Federal Express was founded Frederick W. Smith
    in 1965.
  • It officially began operations on April 17,1973.
  • Federal Express delivered 186 packages to 25 U.S.
    cities - from Rochester, N.Y. to Miami, Fla.
  • The company's growth gained rapidly following air
    cargo deregulation in 1977.

  • In 1974, Federal Express went on the air in six
    markets with an advertising budget of 150,000.
  • After the first several international
    acquisitions federal express began overseas
    operations in 1984.

Weekend Service
  • FedEx makes it possible for you to ship on
    Saturday and get a head start on the workweek.
  • Saturday service is available in the vast
    majority of U.S. cities. Specify Saturday
    delivery for Fedex priority overnight (delivery
    by noon or 130 p.m. for many shipments) and
    Fedex 2day (delivery by 430 p.m. for many
    shipments).
  • Most areas have Saturday courier pickup.
  • Many staffed FedEx drop-off locations are open on
    Saturday and some FedEx Drop Boxes have Saturday
    pickup.
  • No Saturday delivery or pickup in Hawaii.

Hold at Location
  • Use this option if you need your package earlier
    than the scheduled delivery time, or won't be
    available to receive a delivery.
  • Packages held for pickup can be picked up at a

    FedEx typically next business day. C.O.D. is a
    great way to expand payment options for your

  • They call recipient before delivery so payment
    can be ready.
  • Their customer can pay by personal check, money
    order, cashier's check, company check, official
    check or certified check.
  • Available within the U.S. only.

  • FedEx aircraft are available to charter for
    unusual or extraordinary shipping needs, from
    racehorses to race cars.
  • FedEx provides the plane and crew you choose the
    time and route.
  • Ship any acceptable commodity that fits on the
    plane.
  • Charters available in the U.S. and overseas for
    one-time or long-term use.

Dangerous Goods Service
  • FedEx Express is a world leader in transporting
    dangerous goods, which can include such items as
    nail polish, cologne, paint and perfume.
  • All shippers are responsible to correctly
    identify, classify, package, mark, label and
    complete documentation for dangerous goods
    according to national and international
    governmental regulations.
  • To ensure proper handling, dangerous goods cannot
    be offered in FedEx packaging.
