Introduction
Intelligent vehicles and highway systems have
been studied to make cars function more
effectively.

• Advantages of Auto Platooning
• Minimizes the single greatest cause of traffic
  accidents and related congestion driver error.
• Double the existing freeway capacity and
  dramatically reduce congestion-related pollution
  and fuel consumption

Objective

• Leading Car
• runs at the specified speed
• Following Car
• 1. Detect leading car
• 2. Leading car not found, runs at specified
• constant speed
• 3. Leading car found, follows it with desired
• distance separating them

Configuration of System

• Hardware
• Two remote control vehicles, each with one
  driving motor and one steering motor
• One infrared reflectance sensor used to measure
  the distance between the two cars.

• PID controller used to keep the desired distance
  between two vehicles

Demo Scenario

• The leading car will run at a constant speed
• The following car will run at a fast speed and
  get closer and closer to the leading one
• When leading car is detected, the following car
  will slow down and follow it with a constant
  distance between them
