The Lords Day
  • We do not come together as Christians to
commemorate Mothers Day, but today is a good day
to honor Gods gift of MOMS and talk about what
    God wants MOMs to be.

4
M. O. M.
  • God wants a M.O.M. to be a

5
A Molder Of Men
My son, hear the instruction of your father, And
do not forsake the law of your mother (Proverbs
18 NKJV)
6
Samuel and Hannah
  • Then she made a vow and said, "O LORD of hosts,
if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your
maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your
maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a
male child, then I will give him to the LORD all
the days of his life, and no razor shall come
upon his head." (1 Samuel 111 NKJV)

7
Samuel and Hannah
  • "For this child I prayed, and the LORD has
granted me my petition which I asked of Him.
Therefore I also have lent him to the LORD as
long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD."
So they worshiped the LORD there.
    (1 Samuel 127-28
    NKJV)

8
Moses and Jochebed
  • And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." So the
maiden went and called the child's mother. Then
Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child
away and nurse him for me, and I will give you
your wages." So the woman took the child and
nursed him. And the child grew, and she brought
him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son.
So she called his name Moses, saying, "Because I
drew him out of the water."
    (Exodus
    28-10 NKJV)

9
Moses and Jochebed
  • By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden
three months by his parents, because they saw he
was a beautiful child and they were not afraid
of the king's command. By faith Moses, when he
became of age, refused to be called the son of
Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer
affliction with the people of God than to enjoy
the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the
reproach of Christ greater riches than the
treasures in Egypt for he looked to the reward.
    (Hebrews 1123-26 NKJV)

when I call to remem-brance the genuine faith
that is in you, which dwelt first in your
grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am
persuaded is in you also. (2 Timothy 15 NKJV)

A Molder Of Men
  • She instilled a respect for the Scriptures - 2
    Tim. 314-17
  • She instilled an authentic faith - 2 Tim. 15
  • She instilled a desire to serve - Acts 163

Ruth and Naomi
  • But Ruth said "Entreat me not to leave you, Or
to turn back from following after you For
wherever you go, I will go And wherever you
lodge, I will lodge Your people shall be my
people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I
will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do
so to me, and more also, If anything but death
parts you and me." (Ruth 116-17 NKJV)

Proverbs 3126-29
  • She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her
tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over
the ways of her household, And does not eat the
bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call
her blessed Her husband also, and he praises
her "Many daughters have done well, But you
    excel them all."

17
Titus 24-5
  • that they admonish the young women to love their
husbands, to love their children, to be discreet,
chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own
husbands, that the word of God may not be
    blasphemed.

18
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • We had the meanest mother in the whole world!
While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had
to have cereal, eggs and toast. When others had
a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat
sandwiches. And you can guess our mother fixed
us a dinner that was different from other kids,
    too.

19
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all
times. Youd think we were convicts in a prison.
She had to know who our friends were, and what
we were doing with them. She insisted that if we
said we would be gone an hour, we would be gone
    for an hour, or less.

20
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the
nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making
us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the
beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do
laundry, and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think
she would lay awake at night thinking of more
    things for us to do.

21
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • She always insisted on us telling the truth,
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By
the time we were teenagers, she could read our
minds, and life was really tough.
  • She wouldnt let our friends just honk the
horn when they drove up. They had to come up to
the door so she could meet them.

22
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • Because of our mother we missed out on lots
of things other kids experienced. None of us
have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing
others property, or ever arrested for any crime.
It was all her fault. We never got drunk, took
up smoking, stayed out all night, or a million
    other things other kids did.

23
The Meanest Mother in the World
  • Sundays were reserved for church, and we
never missed once. We knew better than to ask to
spend the night with a friend on Saturdays.
  • Now that we have left home, we are all
God-fearing, educated, honest adults. We are
doing our best to be mean parents just like our
mom was. The world just doesnt have enough mean
    moms anymore.

25
M. O. M.
  • In honoring Moms in this way today, we really
seek to honor Him who gave us all our Moms, that
    is God.

26
M. O. M.
  • The 1 goal of every Christian Mom should be to
see her children obey the gospel.

27
Do we teach the gospel TO our Children?
(Matthew 1914) But Jesus said, "Let the little
children come to Me, and do not forbid them for
of such is the kingdom of heaven." (NKJV)
28
Do our Children see how WE value a Soul?
  • Do my actions show that I value my own soul?
  • Am I willing to compromise my soul for worldly
    gain?
  • In what ways do I inconvenience myself because of
    my love for anothers soul?
  • How do my actions show that I value the souls
    that are lost around me?

29
Will You Obey the Gospel?
  • Hear Romans 1017
  • Believe Mark 1616
  • Repent Acts 1730
  • Confess Romans 109-10
  • Be Baptized Acts 238
  • Live Faithfully Rev. 210
