OBJECTIVES

• Creatively explore the use of renewable energy
• Promote the use of recyclable materials
• Raise awareness of environmental issues
• Promote team spirit
• Allow students to apply the science concepts
  learnt

Registration Process

• Maximum of 3 teams from each school
• 2 to 5 members per team (excluding teachers)
• Only first 50 entries received will participate
• Organisers reserve the right to alter the number
  of teams without notice

• Originality
• Disqualification may result if design similar to
  any available products
• Check for patent infringement

• RENEWABLE ENERGY APPLICATIONS IN THE KITCHEN

• Solve the challenge given
• Create working device that can cook instant
  noodles without using electricity

Project Requirements

• Note
• Teams will not be provided with any materials
• Be as creative as possible but be realistic
• All ideas must be supported by scientific
  concepts
• Credit will be given if recycled materials are
  used

• 1,000 words maximum
• Maximum Dimension
• 0.5m x 0.5m x 0.5m
• Submit Budget Statement
• Budget of S400.00 per team
• Costs to be borne by team / school

• 5 Minutes Presentation on judging day
• May use visual aids
• Be prepared to answer queries!
• Organisers reserve the right to request display
  of outstanding innovations within 1 year of the
  event and can change display venues without
  notice

• Functionality 35
• Creativity 25
• Design 25
• Presentation 15

Judging Criteria

• Judged on the following 2 criteria 
• highest temperature reached within a time limit
  of 5 minutes
• shortest time taken to reach 80C

Judging Criteria

• Organisers reserve the right to make changes to
  any of the above in the interest of fair-play
• In the event of ambiguity, the organisers
  interpretation will prevail
• All decisions made by the judges are final
• Appeals will not be entertained

• 1st Runner-Up 800.00
• 2nd Runner-Up 600.00
• 4 Merit Prizes 300.00 each
• Most Creative Innovation 400.00
• Most Efficient Innovation 400.00
