800 MHz Rebanding
  • FCC has provided waiver guidance to incumbents
    who will not meet June 26, 2008 deadline
  • If physical retuning is complete by June 26,
    system is considered to have met deadline
  • Incumbents who do not comply with deadline and
    fail to file a waiver may be required to pay
    rebanding costs themselves
  • TA has developed a template available on their
    website www.800ta.org

  • Wave 1 March 17, 2008
  • Wave 2 March 17, 2008
  • Wave 3 April 15, 2008
  • Wave 4 April 15, 2008
  • Non-border area licensees who have received an
    FRA. Deadline for other Wave 4 incumbents will
    be announced at a later date

  • Designate a lead call sign
  • Describe
  • Size and complexity of systems
  • Progress made to date
  • Degree of interoperability with other systems and
    how this will impact timeline
  • Provide proposed timetable
  • Whats been done or will be done prior to 6/26?
  • Anticipated start date for retuning/replacement
    of subscribers/infrastructure
  • When will operations cease on pre-rebanding
    frequencies and begin on post-rebanding
    frequencies
  • What other steps have to be taken and when

    (800MHz_at_Sprint.com)

700 MHz Canadian Proposal
  • Industry Canada Released a Notice seeking comment
    on proposed changes to 700 MHz Public Safety band
    plan
  • Seek to harmonize with US
  • Allocate Channels 64/69 to Public Safety
  • Relocate Narrowband allocation to match US
  • Retain Agreement G (US primary/Canadian primary
    channel designations)
  • Retain current technical rules (power, adjacent
    channel TV protection, etc.)

  • Broadband to be addressed in a separate notice
  • Channel 64/69 TV Incumbency in Canada
  • 7 stations and 4 permits
  • Ontario most impacted
  • Immediate access to Channel 64/69 spectrum in
    most of Canada
  • TV Clearing deadline August 31, 2011
  • Incumbents must move to the new band plan 2 years
    after adoption
  • If blocked by incumbent TV must move within 1
    year after TV clears out
