  • PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS - KNOW THEIR LOCATION
  • Mounted on the walls in the hallways,
    laboratories, air handling rooms, equipment
    rooms, etc.
  • Spaced so that the travel distance is within
  • 50 feet for areas with flammable and combustible
    liquids
  • Other areas 75 feet

  • Before Using A Fire Extinguisher
  • Make sure you have an unobstructed escape route
    at your back
  • Fire should be small, confined and not spreading,
    e.g. trash can fire
  • Know that the extinguisher is right for the job
  • Be trained on how to use an extinguisher

    remember PASS
  • Pull the pin
  • Aim the nozzle at the base
  • of the fire
  • Squeeze the handle, and
  • Sweep the fire from side to
  • side

    PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER.

Fire Extinguisher Classifications

lithium
HALLWAY FIRE EXTINGUISHERS ARE OF THE ABC, DRY
CHEMICAL TYPE. OTHERS MAY BE OF THE BC, CARBON
DIOXIDE TYPE. A FIRE EXTINGUISHER CONTAINING
WATER WOULD BE CLASS A.
