What is Oxygen?????

• Oxygen is the 8th element on the periodic table
• The symbol for Oxygen is O.
• The atomic weight for oxygen is (15.9994) 16.0.
• The Electron Configuration for oxygen is
  He2s22p4.
• Oxygen is the third most abundant element found
  in the sun
• As a gaseous element, oxygen forms 21 of the
  atmosphere

Why do I depend on Oxygen??

• People, such as myself, rely on oxygen for
  respiration.
• Also oxygen is needed transport gases across cell
  membranes.
• Another reason oxygen is needed it to manufacture
  hormones, proteins and other chemicals.

The Power of Oxygen

• A human being can live for days without water,
  and weeks without food but without Oxygen
  biological death begins to occur within three
  minutes.
• Oxygen is the single most important substance
  taken into the body.
• Oxygen nourishes the cells, it provides the
  energy needed to metabolize carbohydrates.
• Oxygen strongly builds up your immune system
  defense and fights hostile organisms

Oxygen and Health

• If there is not enough oxygen in your body, then
  both the solidifying function and incomplete
  combustion occur to excess.
• If our body's oxygen level drops too low, then we
  don't have much energy.
• If a chronic low oxygen condition is allowed to
  continue or we can't manufacture healthy cells,
  burn energy
• Oxygen keeps cells clean and flexible, and
  removes unneeded structure.

• When we're working with cell cultures in the lab,
  if we want cells to mutate, we turn down the
  oxygen. To stop them, we turn the oxygen back up.
• Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless
  secondary causes, but there is only one prime
  cause is the replacement of the normal oxygen
  respiration of body cells by an anaerobic cell
  respiration.
• Lack of cellular oxygen supply is probably the
  most common cause of cell injury
