WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy

• Is basic Wi-Fi security and it is implemented
  since 1999.
• It sends encrypting key with data, so it is not
  too difficult to catch its key.
• We know a lot of weakness of WEP secure.
• Nowadays is recommended to use stronger methods
  of security

WPA - Wi-Fi Protected Access

• protocol was created in response to serious
  weaknesses in the previous system - WEP.

SSID - Service Set Identifier

• Is a name used to identify WLANs to which a user
  wants to attach.
• It is normal for multiple access points to share
  the same SSID if they provide access to the same
  network.
• Turning off the broadcast of the SSID leads to a
  false sense of security.

My Opinion

• It is cheap and fast
• It is easy to use
• It has high level of security
• I think, Wi-Fi can be very useful in The smart
  home.
