- Graduates of Swinburne, Lilydale have gone on to

Waterhouse, Coopers (PWC). - Positions in government working on government

- Students can do majors or minors in the areas of

5Project Units
- Full time students do eight units each year over
three years (24 units in total). - All students do two project units in their last
year of study. - These might be two units in the area of their
major, or one of the units might be in the area
of their minor or an inter disciplinary unit
(called Work Integrated Learning or WIL projects)
6Example Project Units
- Public relations project
- Students work in a public relations firm (under
the guidance of academic staff) and accept
external briefs for non-profit organisations. - Media project
- Students produce the campus newsletter working
with students from local schools to produce
articles for publication. Alternate projects are
possible, such as production of promotions videos
for companies like Telstra.

- Marketing project
- Students produce a services marketing plan and
present this to an external board of industry
representatives for feedback. - Work Integrated Learning projects
- Students can propose projects. Current
projects include - Fundraising for CARE (Non-profit organisation)
- Crime prevention project with Victoria Police
- A project with Telstra
- School mentoring with at-risk students
8International Opportunities
Swinburne Lilydale is very keen to offer
students international study opportunities.
These include Overseas Study At Sarawak in
Malaysia for the Winter term. This allows
students to accelerate their course and generous
scholarships are available to support
this. International study tours Third year
students travel to places such as Vietnam and
China and visit industries meeting and talking to
the local business people. They then identify a
business opportunity and present it to an
audience. International Projects Students may
select one of our international projects. Current
projects include Frankfurt Airport in Germany and
Wineries in California , USA.
9Industry Based Learning
- Once the second year of study is complete
students may undertake an industry based learning
placement. This is arranged by the University
and the student is mentored by an academic member
of staff. - Current Placements include
- Repco
- Australia Post
- Defence Industries
- Coles-Myer
- CSIRO
- among others, including many local businesses.
10TAFE Pathways
- Students who have completed the following
Swinburne TAFE qualifications will be eligible
for up to 12 units of exemptions (up to half the
degree course) -
