  • 10 million children die every year before their
    fifth birthday.
  • Children growing up in poverty are more likely to
    leave school at 16 with fewer qualifications
  • Children growing in poverty miss out on many
    things other children take for granted birthday
    presents, holidays, new toys, new clothes

  • National Picture
  • 3.9 million children are living in poverty in the
    UK nearly 1/3 of all children in Britain.
  • 1 million children live in severe poverty these
    children go without basic things like warm coats
    in winter, new shoes. They go to school without
    breakfast or go to bed hungry. Many people
    struggle to heat their homes.

    children live in poverty thats higher than
    anywhere else in Britain.
  • Sunderland has some of the worst poverty in the
    country.
  • In Southwick, nearly ½ of all families live on
