Step 1 Plan it out.

• Identify the main points of the unit that will
  support the essay.
• Where would you find this information?
• Organize those points so that they make sense to
  you.
• Can you group any together into a larger point?

Step 2 Flesh it out.

• Put points into an outline form Make them into a
  clear, 1 sentence summary.
• Now find supporting details
• Look through notes and Anticipation Guide
• Find at least two summary sentences or detail
  sentences that you can use to explain your topic
• Fill those in.

Step 3 Knit it together.

• Look over the outline.
• Think of how each piece will fit together to help
  answer your essential question.
• Write a transition sentence to connect each main
  point to the next (make this the third point
  under each heading).
