3NORSOK Nomenclature Mapping
4NORSOK Nomenclature Mapping Scope
- NORSOK Nomenclature (NORSOK Z-CR-002) is a list
of preferred names for types of equipment used on
an offshore platform. - The list contains 931 names for equipment types
- Naming convention follows the NSN principles,
e.g. - Accumulator
- Accumulator, Bladder
- Accumulator, Diaphragm
- Accumulator, Piston
- Actuator
- Actuator, Electric
- These names were cross referenced to the
corresponding class in the RDL. Where required
new classes were added.

7NORSOK Data Sheet Project
8Data Sheet Projects Focus
Many different, view dependant descriptions -
language - business - company - phase
(lifecycle) - application (DS/2D/3D) - etc
One neutral, extendable description, supporting
multiple views across phases and applications
9Benefits
- Focus can be shifted to data, not format (view
templates) - The project was mainly about establishing
consolidated product models for types of
products (product templates) - The established product models can be mapped to
many data sheet views, and extended to support
other views (not only data sheets) - Limited effort has gone into defining the data
sheet views - Only relatively small effort required to map to
additional views - In effect the project has established a basis for
neutral data mapping, including data sheet
mapping - Can be used to drive applications and control
data input
10NORSOK Instrument DS
11Data Driven Data Sheets (D3S)
12Data sheet types
- Data sheet types represents types of views on
underlying data, which need to be described
neutral with respect to type of view - Data sheet types composition
- data sheet types have types of parts
- each part has a label and a value field
- the types can be open standards or proprietary
- Data sheet types structured by specialization
- the specification of the super type is inherited
- previous specifications can be reused
- allows specializations of standard types by
proprietary additions - Data sheet types and their components can be held
as ERDL reference data if standardised
13Concept
Data entry, query of data sheets
Creation of types of data sheet
User interface application
Facility life-cycle data base
14Project Deliverables
- NORSOK instrumentation data sheets have been
selected as the pilot - standardized
- information scope tailored for OilGas (e.g. ISA
has broader information scope exceeding the need
of OilGas) - non-proprietary
- publicly available free of charge (www.nts.no)
- Data
- Data for the selected data sheets including
sections, labels texts etc. in ISO 15926 format - Augmented reference data for the types of
components and parts represented on the data
sheets - Link between the texts of the external view and
the neutral product description

18Business object - logical model
- Comes from the Data Type Documents
- Introduces the required rigor
- Uses the terms of the users
19Business Object Data
- Business objects represent ISO 15926 reference
data as conventional entity types and attributes - Entity Type or attribute Reference Data Class
- Business objects are ISO 15926 reference classes
20POSC Caesar Involvement
- Business Object DefinitionDefine the data types
in terms of business objects. - Define new classes for the business objects data
in accordance with the ISO 15926 principals. - Some 800 core classes were identified/added.

23CASCADE
- A EU funded project (Dedicated Call)
- Scope is data to support life cycle assessment
(LCA) of manufactured products and industrial
processes - The main objective is to achieve accessibility,
comparability and quality assurance of data
related to the environmental properties of
materials of which any product is made and
corresponding processes.
24Main POSC Caesar Involvement
- Participate in defining the scope of LCA
reference data - POSC Caesar to manage and resource the
development of the selected LCA reference data - The POSC Caesar RDL will be the repository for
the LCA terminology. - Provide LCA reference data in EPISTLE tabular
layout format - Software demo will present a selected subset of
this data using OWL. - ENEA to develop a user interface for LCA users.
25Status work
- Extending the RDL to include CASCADE scope is
ongoing. - Involves mapping the terminology of ISO 14040,
ISO 14041, ISO 14042, ISO 14043, ISO 14050 and
ISO 14048 to the RDL - AP 235 representation is being prepared by
Ferroday - Software demo - CAESAR Systems
- XML coding of DM RDL to OWL (W3C) is expected
end of the year. - AP 235 representation is being prepared by
Ferroday
