- AMS ( Academic Management Systems) - the company
that administers the Colleges monthly payment
plan. Contact AMS at 1-800-635-0120 or
www.tuitionpay.com or see Bursar, MB-55 - Census date - the last day to drop courses. As
of census date, your registration is finalized
for the session - CHOP - Change of Program is any add/drop action
taken after your initial registration - DegreeWorks - LaGuardias on-line student
advisement and degree audit system - Drop Box - a secure place to drop tuition and fee
payments (checks, money orders, credit card
authorization) by the Bursar Window. Available
all hours the campus is open - ESC - Enrollment Services Center in C-107 houses
testing, educational planning, student financial
services, registration and records operations - ESC Resource Center - C-109 offers in-person help
with registration as well as financial aid
application and identifying other funds,
including personal resources, to cover the cost
of attendance - FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

- PINs - Personal Identification Numbers are
assigned by the Registrar to give you access to
LaGuardias advisement and registration systems.

for access to the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) - PTV - the plasma screen televisions used to
broadcast news about important academic dates,
registration information and campus events - REGXpress - LaGuardias on-line student
registration services system - SIC - Student Information Center responds to
phone and email inquiries related to enrollment
services - SIMS - Student Information Management System is
the Colleges student database system - SFS - Student Financial Services are housed in
the ESC, C-107, and operates the ESC Resource

7Step One Apply for Financial
Assistance
- Assess your own financial resources to pay for
college (income, savings, etc.) - Visit the Employment Career Services Center in
C-102 to learn about part-time on- and off-campus
jobs - Apply for financial aid early and re-apply each
academic year! - April 15 to start classes in Fall
- November 15 to start classes in Spring
- Visit the ESC Resource Center (C-109) for
financial planning counseling - Bring your (and/or your familys) most recent tax
forms - Review sources of financial assistance
- Federal, state and city programs
- LaGuardia grants and scholarships
- Private scholarship programs
- The ESTIMATED award for financial assistance will
appear on your Schedule/Bill. Prepare to pay the
difference between tuition and fee charges and
your estimated financial assistance (aid, grants,
scholarships, etc.)
8Step Two Clear All STOPS
- Stops will prevent your registration!
- Use DegreeWorks to view stops
- Understand your stops. The most common Stops
include - Bursar (owing a tuition/fee balance)
- Financial Aid (aid overpayment)
- Health (missing immunization proof)
- Library (overdue books)
- Visit the appropriate office(s) to resolve
Stops (e.g. Bursar - MB55, ESC C107, Health
MB40). See a SFS Specialist in the ESC C107
to get advice about resolving an
outstanding/prior balance
9Step Three Get Academic Advisement
- Review the Advisement Policy in the Schedule of
Classes to see if you need an advisors approval
before registering on REGXpress (Advisement is
required for all students with less than 30
credits students enrolled - in special programs)
- Use DegreeWorks to
- See the academic requirements you still need to
complete for your degree - Learn where to go for advisement
- Use the Schedule of Classes to prepare two
possible programs for the semester - Go to REGXpress and click on the Quick Link
Advisement Registration Information for a
list of activities and deadlines - Meet with an Advisor to plan and select courses
- After advisement, ask the advisor to make sure
your C stop is cleared and that you have a
registration appointment -
10Step Four Register for the Semester
- Go on-line www.lagcc.cuny.edu/regxpress Enter
the 4-digit course codes for each of
your classes - Register for both Session I and II now to show
full time status for financial aid, insurance and
visa (international students only) purposes - Use any internet-enabled computer to access
REGXpress at home or on-campus (open labs, the
Library, or wireless access areas) - View and print a copy of your Schedule/Bill.
Note the payment deadline and amount due - Keep this printout for your records!

PAYMENT METHODS
- After financial aid and other financial
assistance are applied to your account, use any
combination of the following to make payment or
payment arrangements - AMS Monthly Payment Plan (see Bursar, MB55, or

- Be sure to include the last 4digits of your
student ID on the face of the check or money

- You may use a Third Party Payment Voucher offered
by your employer, sponsor or private scholarship
fund. - The College must have written authorization from
the third party to bill the employer,
organization, or sponsor directly. Take the
voucher from your employer or sponsor to the
Bursar as soon as possible after you register. - Employee reimbursement plans are not acceptable

- Using VISA/MASTERCARD, AMEX, or DISCOVER for
payment by mail or Drop Box - Complete Authorization (below). Signature MUST be

- Complete your registration and make payment or
arrangements to pay as soon as you can but NO
LATER THAN THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON THE PAYMENT
DUE DATE - Visit the Bursar web site www.lagcc.cuny.edu/busin
ess/Tuition_Fees.htm for payment due dates - Once you have made payment or adequate
arrangements to pay your tuition and fees, your
registration for the semester will be protected
against cancellation -
- If you choose NOT to attend classes, you MUST go
online or visit the ESC (for in-person help) to
officially drop your class(es) to avoid academic
and financial liability!

REMINDERS
- Failure to drop a course(s) prior to the first
day of classes will make you liable for part or
all tuition and fee charges. See the Tuition
Refund Schedule in the Schedule of Classes
booklet for details - Not attending does not mean you have officially
dropped your class(es). You will earn a WU
grade at the end of the Session (calculated as an
F in GPA), and be liable for tuition and fee
charges - Any Change of Program (CHOP) action, that is
add/drop, may impact your financial aid and
your tuition/fees bill check with SFS and/or the
Bursar whenever you make changes to your program - If you have unusual financial circumstances,
visit the ESC to explore possible options with a
SFS specialist
21Step Six Validate Your ID Confirm Classroom
Assignments
- You are required to display a valid student ID
each time you enter a LaGuardia building - After Registration and Before 1st Day of Classes
- Visit the ID Office in MB-23, following
registration and payment, to obtain a validation
sticker for the semester. You MUST present
evidence of payment in full or payment
arrangements - Go on-line 24- to 48-hours before the first day
of classes and print your Schedule/Bill AGAIN to
get your most current classroom assignments - Remember to add/drop classes as soon as possible
see Academic Calendar for dates. Be sure to
drop any class you do not plan to attend by the
last day to drop a class deadline
22Step Seven Confirm Your Financial Aid
- Remember, your initial financial aid award is an
ESTIMATE - Confirm the estimated federal/state aid that
initially appeared on your Schedule/Bill. - Make sure your ESTIMATED award is CONFIRMED by
SFS and CREDITED to your Bursar account - Visit the ESC or Bursar after the CENSUS DATE
(see the Academic Calendar) to verify that your
aid has been credited to your account - An additional bill for tuition and fees will be
sent after Census date if your expected aid
changes or is NOT confirmed by SFS
