Background

• Plasson is a world-class manufacturer of plastic
  products for the water, gas and telecom
  industries.
• The company has distributors all over the world
  and produces plastic fittings, poultry watering
  systems and sanitary products.

Problems to be solved

• Plasson has approximately 150 injection machines
  manufacturing numerous small components for
  finished products.
• Small boxes were used on the production line and
  in the warehouse. The boxes were quickly filled
  up with parts and workers had to move them to
  pallets and use a new box.
• Full boxes were stacked on pallets and there were
  problems binding them together and moving them
  safely.

Problems to be solved

• The operation was labor-intensive and involved a
  long process.
• Storage was problematic after moving the
  pallets the boxes had to be transferred to racks.
  
• The product components were then moved again to
  the assembly line which needed them. Workers had
  to feed parts from the small boxes into a
  collator.

The requirements

• A large box pallet, foot print 1120x1035, that
  would be easy to load and unload.
• Save storage area by increasing the stacking
  height up to 10 boxes.
• Box with a lid. that could withstand outdoor
  storage.
• Large capacity (700 l) and tipping
  option when moved by fork lift.
• UV and corrosion resistant.

The Dolav solution

• Dolav Type 1120 box pallets (1120x1120x780) were
  chosen as the standard box model and Dolav
  product engineers customized the box by adding
  metal runners to meet the requirement of tipping
  when full.
• Tare weight 40 kg.
• Volume 700 liter.
• Max. load 700 kg.

• The Dolav box saves time and labor thanks to its
  much larger capacity.
• The Dolav box pallets can be moved easily and
  stored on racks or stacked one on top of the
  other outdoors.
• The Dolav box can be emptied easily using a fork
  lift directly on the assembly line.

• The boxes were supplied on time and to the
  satisfaction of Plasson, who continue to place
  repeat orders.
• The customer is very pleased with time savings
  achieved during the process, storage and
  movement.
• Warehouse organisation is efficient and all areas
  are now clean.
