Coco

• GC are currently assessing a large number of
  CoCos, which has affected our assessment
  turnaround.  If your CoCo is in for formal
  assessment please be assured that we will return
  it to you as soon as possible.Do remember that
  if, upon receipt of the CoCo Assessment, an LA
  believes that there is a risk to their
  achievement of compliance by the required date,
  LAs should Write (from 151 Officer) to Philip
  Littleavon and Anna Smith  Providing specific
  details of the issue in an action
  plan Providing commitment for the LA to achieve
  compliance by the proposed revised dateGC will
  urgently convene a conference call with the LA to
  discuss the issue and decide the most appropriate
  course of action.

Preparation for local configuration

• In addition, those LAs that have received their
  RESTRICTED configuration dataset should book a
  slot with the Configuration Team on the earliest
  date possible to make best use of the available
  resources.LAs that have reached a certain level
  of compliance will be contacted by our
  Configuration Team to book the consultants
  support day to help with your local
  configuration.  We have permission from OGCbs to
  complete this before full compliance so that LAs
  can be operational as soon after compliance with
  the CoCo as possible (simply re-activating the
  GCSx circuit).  In preparation for this, please
  ensure that you Complete your
  pre-configuration checklist and return to the
  team (RESTRICTED datasets will be sent to LAs as
  soon as they have reached the appropriate level
  of compliance)  Plan to complete any local
  changes as early as possible, so that we can
  complete your local configuration in advance of
  31 March 09 deadline (please do be as flexible as
  possible with dates rather than waiting until the
  last week in March)

Public Sector Network

• The PSN will create a Virtual Private Network for
  the Public Sector from the existing commercial
  infrastructure. It will not buy infrastructure or
  capability. Instead it will develop a market
  place providing opportunities for industry and
  savings for the Public Sector.
• The PSN will not appear overnight. Delivery of
  the service will be incremental, with contractual
  vehicles appearing across a common core
  network.
• The PSN will include
• A Code of Interconnection (CoICo) for service
  providers
• Government Conveyancing Network (GCN) as the
  glue between service provider networks
• Central service management, ID management and
  commercial settlement.

What will merge to create the PSN

• Government Secure Intranet (GSi)
• a broad range of secure connectivity, hosting
  (including Knowledge Network, Intranet and
  Internet data services)
• serving around 420,000 public sector employees
  and will also be providing connectivity for
  around 400 local authorities through Government
  Connect
• connectivity for (currently 23) Private Sector
  partners to exchange data and services securely
  with the public sector
• interconnectivity with other major public sector
  networks and systems, such as the PNN, NHSnet,
  MOD, Government Gateway, Knowledge Network
• Managed Telecommunications Service (Mts)
• Mts is a managed service delivered via a contract
  between OGCbuying.solutions and Global Crossing. 
  Extended to its contractual limit, services are
  currently being provided under the original
  contract which will expire at the end of December
  2011.  It delivers
• a broad range of TDM fixed voice and contact
  centre, mobility, videoconferencing and operator
  services to 220,000 users across the UK public
  sector
• data services to a small (14) number of customers
  in the UK
• secure (IL3) next generation hosted IP voice and
  contact centre services (currently being rolled
  out).
• Foreign Telecommunications Network (FTN)
• The FTN Successor Project was initiated to
  procure a replacement for the existing managed
  global telecommunications service, currently
  known as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
  Telecommunications Network (FTN).  The FTN has
  been provided as a Managed Service by Global
  Crossing since 2000.  Services are currently
  being provided under an optional extension to the
  original contract which will expire in May 2010. 
  It delivers
• to the FCO voice and data services within UK and
  to around 200 posts overseas using a network of
  landline and satellite bearers.  
• to DFID voice and data services around 40
  locations co-located with FCO posts (included in
  the above total).

Project Ocean

• Ocean Programme was initiated in January 2008
• The first section of the Transformational
  Government Public Sector Network, to cover the
  majority of the governments operations overseas
  and some parts of the governments UK operations,
  and result in reduced cost and improved
  performance
• Commercial arrangements that will allow other
  public sector organisations and their partners to
  access Public Sector Network services
• Access to value-added communications services,
  with the FCO specifically planning to implement
  these to deliver improved business productivity
  and reduce cost
