Mike The Thinker

• This is a self portrait drawing done March 2007
  in Art III Honors Class
• My face and body are black and white because I
  have no color without my thoughts
• 2007

Mike, Why The Long Face?

• Self portrait that has been stretched to five
  times in normal height.
• I tried so many colors for my face there are
  probably twelve different layers of pastel on the
  paper.
• I finally settled on this darker shade to show my
  melancholy of being a junior and seeing senior
  friends graduate.

America The Bicycle

• This is a collage of a bicycle or rather the
  negative space around the close up view of the
  wheel
• I felt patriotic so I made the colors red white
  and blue.

Jungle Bike

• This is the positive space version of the
  America The Bicycle piece
• I tried to give this bike a three dimensional
  look by using lighter color near the top.
• The entire space was covered in camouflage
  pictures.
• It took five days just to find this many
  camouflage pieces

Norris

• We were supposed to draw shoes to make an ad.
• I chose to draw my shoes but to make them appear
  to be covered in metal.
• Then I thought who better to name armor plated
  shoes after, than the American action hero Chuck
  Norris

• This is my first oil on canvas painting
• It is a work in progress
• I discovered through this painting that I enjoy
  oil paint and find it to be my favorite and best
  wet medium.

  animations, photo manipulation, and video editing.

Artist Statement

• Artist Statement
• I have realized that my art is inspired by the
  things in my life that I enjoy. Weather it be
  movies, music, television, science, or friends
  I'm inspired by it all. I enjoy making art that
  make people smile and laugh. Im not one to paint
  a sad picture that doesnt have some part of my
  personality in it. Overall, I hope that people
  are inspired by my art, or at the very least I
  hope they are happy when they see it.
• I have learned that I have two favorite mediums.
  The first one is clay. I like making three
  dimensional objects that have real weight and
  texture. The clay allows me to make anything that
  physics will allow to exist. My second favorite
  medium is colored pencil. I like the fact that it
  is easier to control then paint and mistakes are
  easy to fix. I can draw almost anything I want. I
  also enjoy scratch art and printmaking.
• I express my artistic side in almost every thing
  I do. I have discovered my ability to make art on
  the computer. I love this because it combines the
  scientific mathematical side with my wild
  artistic side. I also enjoy using the computer
  because it allows me to make steady lines. I have
  hands that are steady enough for most thing but
  when Im trying to control a paintbrush the just
  arent steady enough for the precision that I
  would like. The computer allows me to gain the
  precision. I dont know where my old and new
  artistic talents will lead me, but I look forward
  to finding out.
