TODAY Pauls Voyages
3The true measure of a man is not how he behaves
in moments of comfort and convenience but how he
stands at times of controversy and challenges.
4Acts 2317-24
- 17Then Paul called one of the centurions to him
and said, Take this young man to the commander,
for he has something to tell him. 18So he took
him and brought him to the commander and said,
Paul the prisoner called me to him and asked me
to bring this young man to you. He has something
to say to you. - 19Then the commander took him by the hand, went
aside and asked privately, What is it that you
have to tell me?
5Acts 2317-24 cont.
- 20And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask that
you bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as
though they were going to inquire more fully
about him. 21But do not yield to them, for more
than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who
have bound themselves by an oath that they will
neither eat nor drink till they have killed him
and now they are ready, waiting for the promise
from you.
6Acts 2317-24 cont.
- 22So the commander let the young man depart, and
commanded him, Tell no one that you have
revealed these things to me.
- 23And he called for two centurions, saying,
Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen,
and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the
third hour of the night 24and provide mounts to
set Paul on, and bring him safely to Felix the
governor.
7- Jesus comforts Paul and warns him that he must
bear witness to Him in Rome.
8- The Voyage of Persecution
- The Voyage of Protection
- The Voyage of Proclamation
9 Trust in God, and He will deliver you.
Be prepared to defend yourself.
Seek every opportunity you are given.
10- 1. Though most of us do not have people trying to
kill us, what persecutions do we go through as
21st century Christians?
- 2. How is Pauls ability to defend himself such a
model for Christians today?
- 3. What Paul had to go through was unfair. Often
in our lives we encounter things that are not
fair. How did Paul deal with this? How can we
deal with this?
11- 4. What are some things that the church can do to
properly defend itself against false doctrine,
tyranny, and oppression?
- 5. What doors has God opened for you? Briefly
share those with the group and then talk about
what we can do to take advantage of those
opportunities.
12Go to a brother or sister who is struggling and
have a prayer with then to let them know that you
care about the struggles they are going through.
Challenge yourself to be more attentive to Gods
open doors.
