The Cheetah

Animal Description

• The fastest living land animal in the world is
  the cheetah. The cheetah is a marvel of evolution
  capable of running up to 70 miles per hour. The
  cheetahs slender long legged body is built for
  speed. Its spotted coat, small head and ears,
  and distinctive tear stripes from the corner of
  the eyes down the sides of the nose make the
  cheetah highly recognizable among the large cats
  of Africa.

What It Eats

• The cheetah eats gazelles, wildbeest calves,
  impalas, and smaller hoofed animals.

Location

• The cheetah is found in open and partially open
  savannahs in southern Africa.

What I Think

• I think that people should not kill cheetahs for
  their fur and skin just so they can collect them.

Why Endangered?

• They are endangered because there is only about
  9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs left in the wild. The
  other reason is that poachers kill them for their
  fur and meat, decorations, and their heads so
  they can treasure them forever. That is why it is
  endangered.
