Prepare your Computer
  • At least 7-10 days before you enter a Live
    Classroom for the first time, be sure to run the
    setup wizard.
  • You need only do this one time unless
  • you change your computer configuration or
    hardware
  • use another computer
  • The wizard tests your computer for
  • Popup blockers
  • Supported browsers
  • Correct Java version
  • Audio capability
  • voice and audio capabilities and ensures that you
    are able to take full advantage of the features
    in the room.
  • Be sure you have your microphone and speakers
    connected prior to beginning this wizard.

Content Frame
  • The Content Frame is the main focus of a
    presentation. Almost all content, such as
    images, charts, and text will appear in the
    Content Frame. During the presentation, the
    displayed content will be controlled by the
    presenter.

Resizing the Interface
  • Wimba Classroom can be resized to meet your
    viewing preferences.
  • Vertical
  • Place mouse cursor over the bar separating the
    Media Bar.
  • Drag up or down to resize Text Chat Area,
    Participant Area and Branding Frame while
    decreasing/increasing Content Frame.
  • Horizontal
  • Place mouse cursor over the bar separating the
    Text Chat Area from the Participant Area
  • Drag right or left to increase/decrease the size
    of the Text Chat Area and the Participant Area

  • Visual indicators help you monitor your
    connection quality
  • Green Good

  • Grey not connected
  • Telephone participant has dialed in
  • Wimba uses low band width so even a Red
    connection will provide an enjoyable session
  • Dial into session if this does not change.

Options Menu
  • The Options Menu provides a number of advanced
    media settings. These options only apply for as
    long as you are logged into Wimba Classroom, and
    must be selected again upon re-entry (or if the
    room is reset by the instructor).
  • The last two options are ONLY to be used when you
    have problems with Wimba.

Interactive Features
  • PollsThe presenter asks on-screen questions with
    instructions for each question. Simply answer
    and click Submit
  • eBoard ToolsThe presenter gives access to these
    tools and they appear on the left side of the
    Content Frame. When you use the eBoard Tools, the
    results are visible to the instructor and other
    participants. You can draw shapes and lines,
    type text, and import graphics.
  • Application SharingThe presenter can give you
    access to share a computer application or a part
    of your desktop with others in the Wimba
    Classroom.
  • Presenter on-the-flyThe presenter can promote
    you to presenter-level status.
  • Breakout RoomYour instructor may move you to a
    Breakout Room to have group work or discussion
    sessions. You will receive audio and textual
    notification when you are moved.

Archive
  • To view an Archive (recording of a live
    presentation)
  • Click the name of the archive.
  • Click Enter Archive.
  • The archive starts automatically.
  • You can use the Archive Navigation to jump to
    specific points within the archive.
  • Playback controls are shown above the Text Chat
    Area.
  • You can respond to polls that appear in an
    archive and they will be reflected in any polling
    reports that your presenter runs after you
    respond.

  • Browse content in agenda before session begins.
  • Close other applications and the session will run
    faster.
  • If you experience a technical problem, enter the
    Lobby and rejoin your class.
