- The Community Voluntary Sector Working Party to
May 2001 - Its report Potential for Partnership -

4Recommendations in 5 main themes
- relationship between Maori and the Crown
- improved participatory processes
- improved funding and accountability
- strengthen the community sector
- Better understanding of the sector by government
officials - Government should signal its intent

- recommendations should apply to all of government
- government should look at the whole sector eg
social services, environment, recreation and
sport, the arts, emergency services etc - needs joint community and government action

- a wider range of officials has also been
canvassed for feedback and input

- attention should be focused on good practice
- work should be based on shared experience
- whole of government resources are required
- some key resources should be online
- independent monitoring is necessary
- levers to ensure adherence to good practice are
essential

- The Statement of Government Intentions for an
Improved Community- Government Relationship - Signed by the Prime Minister and Minister Maharey
in December 2001

- each panel would be active and have online
capacity eg shared work space - costs will include fees

- the participatory processes project proposes hard
copy guidelines - the resourcing accountability project proposes
some hard copy elements
38How will people know the resources exist?
- a marketing plan will be required
- Governments response to the Steering Groups
report will be publicised - the resources will be accessible through the
e-Government portal - government agency chief executives need to buy
in
