I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my
help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the
Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 1211-2
Ready for a Challenge? Climb Mt Shasta (14,128)
June 25-28, 2009
Cost 80 Includes food, permits and hotel (on
e night). Other costs not included rental gear,
carpool fuel , and fast food while on the road.
This is a very physically demanding event
involving climbing and then descending about
7,000 feet over three days. Mt Shasta stands
alone, so even from the very first day you get
the feeling of ascending a big mountain. We will
be climbing Mt Shasta slowly to allow our bodies
to adjust to the altitude Thursday we will camp
at 7,800,Friday we will camp at 10,000, and
Saturday we will summit (14,128) and hike out.
We will be climbing in teams of 5 to 7 people.
As a rule we try to group people in teams that
climb at a similar pace. Team work is very
important! You will need encouragement and you
will need someone watching out for you. This is a
great place to share Gods love with others.
He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches
over you will not slumber Psalm 1213
The OFA team members are not professional guides.
However, we will review basic mountaineering
topics including ice axe and crampon use,
camping at high elevation and fueling your body
while climbing. We are there to help, encourage
and love.
Space on this trip is limited. To reserve a spot

God, listen to me shout, bend an ear to my
prayer.  When I'm far from anywhere, down to my
last gasp, I call out, "Guide me up High Rock
Mountain!" Psalms 611-2 (MSG)
