Gilman Scholarship

• 800 scholarships of up to 5,000 for US undergrad
  study abroad awarded yearly
• Applicants must be Pell Grant recipients
• Preference given to students studying in
  non-traditional sites (outside western E.U. and
  Australia)

NEW Gilman Critical Need Language Supplement

• Gilman recipients now eligible to receive
  additional 3,000 Critical Need Language
  Supplement
• Total possible award of up to 8,000.
• Favored languages Arabic, Chinese, Turkic,
  Persian, Indic, Korean, Russian

• Provides US undergrads with funding for study

  explore Asian culture and languages
• Grantees expected to share their knowledge upon
  return to the US
