Title: The Status Of Renewable Energy Around the World
1The Status Of Renewable Energy Around the
World Presented by Prof. Serdar
Elgun Farmingdale Solar Energy Center
2Worlds fastest growing energy technology is the
grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV).
60 per year growth since 2000
Leading countries Japan Germany United States
3World solar photovoltaic (PV) market
installations reached a record high of 1,500
Megawatts (MW) in 2005.
Germany 57 of the world market. This is a
level eight times the size of the United States
market

8For the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008 a
concept of Green Olympics has been developed. A
30 KWp grid-connected pilot plant will consist of
the outer walls of the Olympic Stadium and gyms
with solar cells. The street lights in the
Olympic Village will be solar powered. It is
expected that this event will further accelerate
the implementation of solar photovoltaics in
China.
