Title: Creating a Stationery Package

1
Creating a Stationery Package
  • (logo, business cards, letterhead, labels)

2
First Impressions in Print
  • The purpose of letterhead and related
  • items is to express an
  • Identity
  • beyond the actual words used in the message.

3
When designing stationery consider
  • What kind of business is it?
  • What type of products or services does it
    produce?
  • Who needs the product or service the business
    produces?
  • Does the business want to attract or focus on a
specific segment of its overall customer base?

4
Tips when designing stationery--
  • Maintain consistency in
  • Color
  • Font
  • Basic layout
  • Keep it simple

5
Where to start!
  • Start with the smallest component--The logo and
    business card
  • Space is restricted
  • Content Layouts and font choices that look great
on letter size paper, can become illegible in the
small space of the business card.

6
What information should you display?
  • Logo
  • name of individual
  • title of individual
  • street address
  • mailing address (if different)
  • phone number(s)
  • fax numbers
  • voice mail or pager numbers
  • email address
  • web address

7
Fonts
  • Readability is the most important aspect of font
    choice.
  • Choose fonts that communicate your identity and
    messageformal, informal, graphic, etc.
  • Be consistent in the type of font chosen
  • Size appropriately on each component.

8
Colour
  • Use corporate colours (if applicable)
  • OR explore a variety of color combinations your
    like?
  • The color of the paper itself is also a factor in
    the design.
  • Careful use of just one color can be just
    effective as an entire rainbow.

9
Paper
  • Keep in mind the type of printing that will be
    used.
  • Choose the right grade of paper for each piece of
    your stationery package.
  • Business cards typically use cover stock
  • Letterhead uses bond paper.
  • We will be using basic white printing paper.

10
Printing/Distribution
  • Consider the question--"How will the letterhead
    be used?"
  • Photocopied or faxed documents do not reproduce
    colour.
  • You will want to design with the limitations of
    those reproduction methods in mind.
  • We have a black and white printer.
