Continuing Education Finishing School

• Today Knowledge reinvents itself in few years
• communication and IT half life of knowledge is 2
  years
• Industry persons require continuous education
• Proposal
• promotion of Internet based video lectures
• can be done at bit-rate under 28kbps
• live and stored for review
• can lecture modules be combined to form courses
• students can accumulate credit towards eventual
  degree

Finishing School

• 65,000 plus engineering students in Tamil Nadu
  graduate each year
• most not ready to be absorbed in industry
• due to insufficient / poor quality training
• high quality finishing school can train these
  students in 60 to 90 days to make them useful for
  industry
• Can they be Internet based lectures provided to
  engineering college.

International Quality Business School

• CII expressed concern about missing out on IBS
• IITM has started a Business school
• can industry help in making it one of the best
  schools
• can such school run
• part time MBA program for industry?
• short-term management training program in
  association with international faculty?
• CEO training program?
• How can CII help?

RD Park

• IITM and its alumni propose to set up a RD Park
• for promoting RD industry working with
  institutes on the model of Stanford Research Lab
• would promote entrepreneurship and enable
  start-ups
• Government has in-principle granted 10 acres of
  land in Taramani
• Can CII be involved in shaping it?
