3ICA Emerges from the Summit of the Americas
The Institute for Connectivity in the Americas
is a Canadian contribution to the common goals
supported by hemispheric leaders at the 2001
Summit of the Americas. It builds on the success
and experience of the Connecting Canadians
Strategy and Canadas international development
and information and communications (ICT)

build networks, share ideas and establish more
effective partnerships with government and the
private sector to participate more fully in the

- Lead, facilitate, promote and foster the
accelerated development and adoption of
hemispheric connectivity, focusing on regional
approaches. - Fill a critical gap by facilitating the
coordination, collaboration and sharing of
efforts across countries. - Provide leadership and support to jurisdictions,
providers, and stakeholders, in consultation with
experts. - Be an active agent in facilitating strategic
partnerships and financing.
