  • Dress inappropriately.
  • Your machine is not ready.
  • Your slides are not ready.
  • Good ideas
  • Use PowerPoint
  • Have backups on overhead transparencies
  • Write on the whiteboard (bad idea!)

  • Have a meaningless title slide.
  • No outline. Disorganized outline.
  • Good idea
  • Tell them what you will say.
  • Say it.
  • Tell them what you said.
  • Fail to state the problem clearly and loudly.

  • Sloppy.
  • Too busy.
  • Spelling, grammar errors.
  • Gratuitous animation.

  • (Technical talk is good, jargon is bad.)

    They also are intended to
  • assist the faculty's professional activities and
    to provide administrative
  • support for the Institute. Therefore, their
    misuse harms every member of the
  • Rose-Hulman community. Since everyone benefits
    from efficient system
