pillars. Resting on top of the roof are the

On June 28, 1633 Pope Urban VIII unveiled
Bernini's baldacchino (canopy) of St Peter's.
Four gilt bronze spiral columns (also called
Solomnic columns) rise from their marble
plinths, which are decorated on both external
sides with the Barberini coat of arms and bees, a
symbol of the family.
