5District of ANZPNG/BoysTown The De La Salle
Brothers established BoysTown, Beaudesert,
Queensland in 1961 to provide residential
educational and welfare services to troubled
teenage boys. BoysTown was established as a
company limited by guarantee with an independent
Board in 2003.

- BoysTown began services in 2003,
- skills development, employment experience,
- personal support programmes

the subject of many unsuccessful attempts at
government sponsored intervention. A former
Catholic mission. De La Salle Brothers
established Luurnpa Catholic School in 1981.

BoysTown to commence services inn
2007. Purpose is to replace welfare dependence
on sit down money with a local economy - in
discussion with the indigenous community and
thereby provide a sense of local responsibility
and esteem. Services - horticulture,
landscaping, screen printing, mechanical
repair, building maintenance, pastoral.
