- RTP Real Time Transport Protocol
- Used for delivering media audio, video and DTMF
- A term you may hear is SRTP (Secure, meaning
encrypted, RTP) - Since PAETEC delivers RTP over a private MPLS
network and anchors the media thru our SBCs, SRTP
is not required nor supported. - TLS Transport Layer Security (Encrypted SIP
basically) - SIP messaging could also ride across a private
MPLS network thru SBCs. - Compression/CODECs
- G.711, uncompressed voice (85k per call so
roughly 16 calls per T1) - Used for FAX and data devices primarily over VoIP
- G.729a, compressed voice (30k per call, maximum
of 48 calls per T1) Based on DSP resources - This is our default codec

cannot support compression, XO and CBeyond. In
order to get the same amount of calls across a
dynamic service as traditional PRI or lines, they
