Incomplete Files
  • You cannot participate in student teaching (SPED
    438, 439 and 489A, B, C, D) or SPED 433 and 435
    unless you have met all requirements, including
    successful passage of the appropriate CSET.

Registration Issues
  • Petition to Add Classes
  • Candidates must take classes in the required
    order.
  • Permits to add classes will only be granted if
  • The candidate has met the prerequisites and
  • There is space in the class.
  • Once permitted, students are responsible for
    registering for the class.
  • Add/Drop Deadlines
  • Through 8/30 All courses are added/dropped via
    TITAN Online, 25 late fee to register, no
    signatures required
  • 9/9-11/13 Withdrawal with a W requires
    signatures of instructor and department chair and
    must be a serious and compelling reason

English Learner Authorization
  • All candidates will be authorized to teach
    English Learners.
  • This will be noted on your Level I and Level II
    credentials.

Residency Requirement
  • 75 of all prerequisite and credential coursework
    must be completed at Cal State University
    Fullerton.
  • Equivalency petitions should be filed at the
    admissions stage. Once admitted, candidates are
    expected to complete all remaining coursework at
    Cal State Fullerton.

    and placing copies of approved petitions in their
    SPED credential file in CP 540.

Program
In compliance with federal regulations, no person
will be excluded from the program due to

ON-TRACK To Teaching
Get ON-TRACK to teaching with the California
State University, Fullerton, College of Education
Transition to Teaching Program. This program is
designed for persons wishing to be Math, Science
and/or Special Education Teachers in Santa Ana
Unified School District. Transition to Teaching
is a federally funded program designed to
identify and train teachers to work in high need
school districts

Participants will receive financial support of up
to 5,000 to be used as tuition and support for
required coursework towards becoming a
credentialed teacher in Special Education,
Science, or Math.

  • Participants must be eligible for admission to
  • CSU Fullertons credential programs.
  • Candidates must complete admission
  • requirements for both the university and
    credential program.
  • If undergraduate, participants must be at the
  • senior level.
  • Candidates must be available to participate in
  • an intensive program (minimum nine units).
  • All candidates must complete an annual
  • application for financial aid (FAFSA).
  • After receiving funding, candidates must work
  • in Santa Ana for at least three years as a
    certificated employee (i.e. classroom teacher).
  • Participants must agree to pay back funds

Continued Participation in Credential Programs
(CPC Policy 1)
  • In order to continue to participate in the
    Credential Program, you must
  • Behave in an honest and forthright manner.
  • Follow standard scholarly practice in giving
    credit to sources used in assignments.
  • Follow directions of University instructors,
    supervisors, and Master Teachers/Mentors.
  • Behave in a manner expected of professional
    educators.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with fellow candidates
    on projects and assignments.
  • Maintain successful academic progress by passing
    all classes and maintaining at least a 3.0 grade
    point average.
  • No classes for which grades of D or F were
    assigned will be used to meet credential
    requirements.
  • In credit/no credit classes "B" level work is
    required to receive credit.
  • Maintain the standards of the Credential Program.
  • Credential candidates will be considered for
    removal from the program if they fail to meet
    these criteria.
  • Further information is provided in the Credential
    Program Handbook.

Academic Attire
  • When on school sites and at the district offices,
    Student Teachers should be attired in academic
    dress.
  • This includes nice pants and shirt with collar
    (tie optional) for men and a nice pants outfit or
    dress for women.
  • Skirts should be a reasonable length and clothing
    should not be revealing.
  • When on playing fields, Student Teachers should
    be attired in appropriate dress for the sport or
    physical education activity in which they are
    engaged.
  • This includes coaching shorts or sweats and a
    T-shirt, polo shirt, or sweatshirt with the
    school name and/or logo. Appropriate footwear
    should also be worn.
  • Individuals who do not meet this requirement may
    be requested to leave the school site to change
    their clothing. Repeated offenses may result in
    termination of the field observation/student
    teaching assignment.

Attendance
  • You are responsible for regular attendance and
    punctuality in the school assignment and in all
    California State University, Fullerton classes.
  • You may not miss classes to attend public school
    classes, activities, or to substitute teach.
  • Promptness and excellent attendance is considered
    to be part of your professional responsibilities.
    You may be removed for the program for multiple
    tardies and absences.

Forms and Documentation
  • As candidates progress through the program, they
    are required to track their progress in meeting
    the competencies and document their achievement
    of program requirements.
  • All forms should be submitted to the appropriate
    faculty or staff member. This is your
    responsibility!
  • You should keep a copy of all forms. We do not
    provide copies!
  • Most forms are found in the Credential Program
    Handbook on the SPED Website.
