Splitting of Berlin
  • The Splitting of Berlin occurred in July of 1948
  • This event was do to a division of Germany and
    Berlin was inside of Germany therefore, it was
    split as well between East and West Berlin
  • This cut off the U.S.s ability to access Berlin

Cuban Missile Crisis
  • The Cuban Missile Crisis began October 15th,
    1962, and ended October 28th, 1962.
  • This event was caused by the leaders of major
    world powers threatening each other of their
    nuclear missiles

The Bay of Pigs Invasion
  • This was an event that happened because Fidel
    Castro began his communist reign on Cuba.
  • Cuban exiles began training by the U.S. military
    for an invasion of the southern beach of Cuba

  • The U.S. and Britain had done this because
    Western Berlin was being controlled by Russia,
    not allowing them resources
  • This happened between June, 1948 and May of 1949

  • The Soviets were so disconnected from the rest of
    the world, which dug them a huge economic hole.

  • This bomb is more powerful then the earlier built
    atomic bomb.
  • The atomic bomb was the first nuclear weapon that
    the U.S. used.
