Why you would want to use speech Recognition?

• Speech recognition transfers words into text.
• Speech Recognition first appeared in the year
  1952!
• Gegery McFerg Boston created speech recognition
  in the year of 1987!
• This program helps you insert words without
  catching carpal tunnel syndrome.
• To get more words typed faster this is a good
  program to use. Because most humans can speak up
  to 150 words a minute but can only type 40 words
  a minute. So this helps you get more work done at
  a faster pace!

Requirements

• For the Speech Recognition System in Microsoft
  Office XP or 2003 you will need,
• A high quality close-talk (headphones) a
  universal serial bus (USB) microphone with gain
  adjustments support is recommended.
• 400 megahertz
• 128 megabytes or more RAM
• Microsoft Windows 98 or NT 4.0 XP or later
• Microsoft Internet explorer 5 or later.

How to get there!

• Click on start, at the bottom of your home page.
• Find and open up Microsoft Word.
• Click on tools and then click on speech!
• Next you would click on tools and then click on
  options.
• Then you would click on advanced speech. Click
  new and type in your user name. then click
  finish. Then click ok.
• Finally you would click on tool bar at the bottom
  and click tools, click on current user, find your
  name!
• Then your ready to start training process.

How It Works!

• When you use speech recognition, your using
  speech instead of having to type everything!
• You speak into a head microphone connected to
  your computer! The soundcard and sound chip
  processes your speech.
• The wires on your headset goes into the terminals
  on the front of the computer. The pink goes to
  the red and the green wire goes into the green
  terminal!

How Speech training Works!

• First you read the directions!
• Then its time to read some items that will help
  the computer become familiar with your voice.
• You will have to read a few sentences and it will
  take approximately ten minutes!
• Then you may need to read an few passages for it
  to keep getting more familiar with your voice!

Examples!

• While using the speech recognition program you
  can say the things that need to be inserted other
  than doing it.
• Example1. would be if you needed a punctuation
  mark you could say the punctuation needed other
  than typing it!
• Example 2. If needed to erase the word that was
  the last word I typed I would say (scratch that)!
  And it would erase the last word said!

Continuing with the training!

• As you are getting familiar with speech
  recognition system you might come across some
  errors.
• If you do come across some errors its due to less
  communication with your computer! Thats a sign
  that you need more training!
• Soon you will notice its not make nearly as many
  mistakes, with more training!

Headphones!

• There are all different kinds of headphones
  available to use.
• The Boom Microphone is one that is not so good.
• The USB headphones are very good!
