What the is it?

• A modern day version of the infamous 1970s road
  trip movie, each year the route changes but the
  foundation of the rally stays the same 3,000
  miles of adventure with the most eccentric group
  of thrill-seekers imaginable, partying every
  night with the whos who of international
  society and pop culture.  Cars featured on the
  rally range from million-dollar luxury vehicles
  to VW campers and even ice cream trucks.  The
  2006 rally is an eight-day, 3000-mile drive
  across three continents with a goal of uniting
  nations through a common passion for music,
  fashion, film and the motorcar.

Whats the prize?

• There is no prize for coming first! (Its a Rally
  not a Race)However all entrants get a bronze
  statue of Burt Reynolds bust fancied after his
  portrayal of J.J. McClure in Cannonball Run
  although all are hoping to be awarded the
  prestigious accolade of Spirit of the Gumball
  Trophy (usually just a gumball machine,
  complete with gum! The first is rumored to have
  been stolen from the Playboy Mansion) a prize for
  the Gumballer who most embodies the free,
  uncompromising character of the rally.

Who in their right mind?

• Nicknamed Gumballers, the rallys 2006 cast
  includes 240 drivers from the famously well off
  to the avid car enthusiast competing in 120
  cars. However, with a free spirit and attraction
  that transcends social barriers, Gumball 3000
  appeals to the adventurer in all, regardless of
  status or wealth.

Whats the point?

• The annual playground for societys elite,
  Gumball 3000 offers a select few the opportunity
  to drive (and party) alongside billionaires,
  extreme sport athletes, film and fashion stars
  and rock icons. Ultimately, the rally offers an
  escape from the every day and an excuse for
  aristocratic delinquency (Steve O, Jackass).

2008 RALLY

• To celebrate Gumball 3000's 10th Anniversary
  rally, in 2008 we are embarking upon creating
  the ultimate rally of the future from San
  Francisco to Beijing incorporating a true once in
  a lifetime check point in North Korea!
• The eight-day 3000-mile route will embrace the
  contrasting cultures of the east and west, whilst
  also uniting over 40 nationalities of
  participants taking part, and truly benchmarking
  itself at the forefront of partying, exploring,
  and the promotion of eco friendly transportation.
  120 of the worlds most amazing vehicles will
  participate, and as well as the usual display of
  stunning supercars, the 2008 Gumball will also
  showcase and encourage vehicles pushing
  environmental technology boundaries to create a
  friendly and safer future.
