Title: Evidences: Establishing Testimony

1
EvidencesEstablishing Testimony
  • John 530-32

2
Multiple Sources Required
  • Both Old and New Covenants require multiple
    sources to establish testimony.
  • Under the Mosaic Law, no one could be convicted
of a crime without the testimony of two or three
    witnesses (Num. 3530 Deut. 176-7 1915-21
    cf. Heb. 1028-29).

3
Multiple Sources Required
  • In the Gospel age, this principle applies to
settling disputes among brethren (Matt. 1815-17
2 Cor. 131-4), and in bringing accusations
against an elder (1 Tim. 519-20).
  • It also relates to the issue of Christian
    evidences (John 530-32 814-18).

4
The Witness of John
  • John the Baptist testifies that Jesus is the
    Christ (John 16-7, 15, 19-20, 26-27, 29-34
    533-35).

5
The Witness of Works
  • The works of Jesus testify He is the Christ
    (Matt. 112-6 John 211, 23 536 1024-25,
    37-38 1410-11).

6
The Witness of the Father
  • God the Father testifies that Jesus is the Christ
    (John 537-38 814-18 1 John 59).
  • Note Gods utterances at the baptism of Jesus
    (Matt. 316-17 Mark 110-11 Luke 321-22), and
again at His transfiguration (Matt. 171-6 Mark
    92-8 Luke 928-36).

7
The Witness of Prophecy
  • The Old Testament prophets testified regarding
the Christ (Luke 2425-27 Acts 1326-27 2 Pet.
    119-21).
  • Consider the Messianic prophecies preserved by
Moses in the Pentateuch (Gen. 315 123 2218
    498-10 Num. 2417 Deut. 1815-18 etc.).

8
The Witness of the Apostles
  • Consider also the witness of the inspired
apostles, who testified that Jesus is the Christ
    (John 1526-27 Acts 229-33 314-15 530-32
    1038-43 2 Pet. 116-18 1 John 11-3 414).

9
Conclusion
  • Credible evidence confirms that Jesus is the
    Christ.
  • Do you accept the witness of John, the witness of
Christs works, the witness of the Father, the
witness of prophecy, and also the witness of the
    apostles?
  • Will you not respond to the Lords invitation
while there is time and opportunity?
