What Is Project Management?

• Effective project management is the planning,
  scheduling, directing, and controlling available
  resources for a relatively short-term work which
  is established for the purpose of meeting
  specific goals and objectives.

Objectives of Project Management

• To finish your research/design project within the
  specified time period (on schedule)
• To meet your research/design objectives within
  allocated cost or assigned resources efficiently
  and effectively (within budget)
• To accomplish your project with expected quality
  and desired performance (desired
  performance/technology level)

Start with Single Activities

• Three control parameters cost, time and quality
• Use Gantt charts to exhibit an experiment
  progress or to list a specific activity required
  to accomplish an objective
• Gantt charts do not show the results of an early
  or late start in activities
• Convert Gantt charts to partial interrelationship
  charts for future activities
