Title: Undergraduate Research,
1Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and
Creative Activity Day provides undergraduates
with a venue for presentation of scholarly
activities conducted in the preceding year.
2-The opportunity to participate is open to
all undergraduates in all departments. -Pres
entation format should be appropriate to
the area of concentration.
3- Accommodations for various formats
- will be arranged.
- Examples include the typical
- scientific poster, displays of art or
- media works, and audio or visual
- presentations of materials/projects/
- performing arts.
4 Goals of URSCAD to facilitate
undergraduate research / scholarly
activities at SDSU to recognize undergraduates
for their scholarly accomplishments to
stimulate future scholarly activity by
undergraduate students to provide students with
an opportunity to present their own works
5Presentations can be viewed, for the most part,
throughout the day, with designated times for
specific presentations or activities scheduled as
needed.
6All students are encouraged to participate by
presenting their scholarly activities, attending
a wide variety of events, and/or showing support
for other student scholars.
7All faculty are encouraged to participate
through -- announcing and aiding the promotion
-- requiring presentations and/or attendance
for class -- mentoring of undergraduate
researchers -- participating in panel
discussions -- encouraging student
involvement --any manner possible.
8- Criteria for submission
- The undergraduate presenter must-
- have been a registered SDSU undergraduate
- during the conduction of the activity
- - have been intricately involved in the project,
- although not necessarily the PI.
9 In addition - the activity may or may not be
a required component of a course - all
research with either animal or human
subjects requires committee approval by
the IRB or IACUC
10URSCAD Spring Semester- Tuesday April 5,
2005 in Peterson Recital and Schultz Room as
needed.
11Program for URSCAD 2005 The keynote speaker
for URSCAD 2005 will be Gregory Pazour, Ph.D.
12Dr. Pazour received his undergraduate degree
from SDSU. He is now Assistant Professor in
Molecular Medicine at the U. of Mass. Medical
School. His research focuses on cell
dynamics. One of his current projects is "The
role of the intraflagellar transport (IFT)
proteins in eukaryotic ciliary assembly"
