Overview of PDF Creation

• Save as PDF from enabled program such as MS Word.
• Convert PostScript to PDF using Acrobat
  Distiller.
• Open and Convert to PDF using PDFWriter.

Creating a PDF File

• Prepare content and assets (photos, graphics,
  links, etc.) in enabled program (e.g. MS Word).
• Save as PDF from the Save As menu.
• Edit in Acrobat, adding annotations, bookmarks
  and additional links.

What is Distiller?

• Acrobat Distiller converts PostScript page
  descriptions into Portable Document Format (PDF)
  files that are the native format of the Acrobat
  family of products.
• Create as PostScript
• Save as PDF

Creating a Postscript File

• Prepare content in originating program (e.g. MS
  Publisher or Notepad)
• Print to File using Acrobat Distiller as the
  selected printer.
• Save resulting file with .PRN or .PS extension.

Distilling Files in Acrobat

• Open PostScript File using Acrobat Distiller as
  program.
• Save converted file as .PDF file.
• Review .LOG file for conversion details.
