• The idea
• bring together theorists and experimentalists to
  review new results and developments also with the
  aim to help exploiting the full potential of the
  COMPASS spectrometer
• discuss new developments (e.g. Pentaquark) and to
  explore options for possible future programmes at
  COMPASS (e.g. DVS)

Fixed target experiments at CERN

• CERN remains committed to a broad physics
  programme. However, the clear priority is LHC
• COMPASS will continue running after the 2005
  shutdown and plans to run until about 2010
• The future physics programme at the CERN SPS
  machine will be discussed at a special meeting in
  September 2004,
• This SPS meeting is open for new initiatives e.g.
  by COMPASS
