Sequences with special pattern.

• 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
• 3, 9, 27, 81, 243, 729
• -¼, ½, -1, 2, -4, 8

Sequences without special pattern.

• 6, 8, 11, 3, 17, 28
• -2, 1, 4, -5, 10, 16

For a sequence whose terms form a simple pattern,
we may find a formula for the nth term by
observation. In so doing, the nth term of the
sequence, denoted by T(n), is called the general
term of the sequence.
