Title: Turtle P2P
1Turtle P2P F2F
What is
- Turtle is a P2P Network with connections only
from friend-to-friend (F2F)
- Its like an friendslist with trusted and
approved friends
Welcome to the Presentation of the Turtle
Network
- no connections to unknown peers, only to friends
2In so called anonymous p2p networks with
public peers or unkown neighbours Endpoints are
always exposed...
secure is onlya trusted F2F network

4New Paradigm I From P2P to F2FRouting Data
Packets over Friends to Friends
- No connection to a public IP-Adress or unknown
Peer is used for communication (paradigm I)
- safe and secure IP-hidden transport of
information and datapackets
- Routing from friends over friends to friends
- worldwide first working routing application
F2F with hopping over trusted friends only...
and ...
5New Paradigm II Difference to other F2F-Networks
- The difference to other friend-to-friend-networks
is
- ... You never know the IP adress from Friends of
your Friends (paradigm II)
- No central server knowing all IP-Adresses of
friends
- Decentral P2P/F2F -List without any server
6Encrypting every transfer
- Every transfer is encrypted (exclusion of the
Internet Service Provider (ISP))
- No one can break the encryption, as it is a
symmetric key, sent over a second communication
channel to the trusted friend (It is not a
asymmetric key over the same lane, over which
data packets are sent later.)
7Short Screenshot Insert the encryption key into
the Friend Node Settings
... so a symmetric key has to be sent to the
friend over a second communication line (email or
other IM)
8Send messages to friends and share and transfer
files over hops of trusted friends
- Using Turtle F2F performs the Turtle F2F Network
1. You can connect your Friends
2. You can use the friends of your friends in a
proxy-chain with node-hopping to transfer files
An Overlay-Network is performed.
- Filesharing is done with the giFT-filesharing-appl
ication ...
9Filesharing safe anonymUse giFT with hops
over Turtle-Friends
- giFT is a popular filesharing application
- supporting Gnutella, Ares, Open Fastrack as
scheduled soon Edonkey/Emule protocol ... - ... so giFT
- is a real
- Shareaza.
10Download and Install Turtle
- See the Website for the Downloadpage
- www.turtle4privacy.org
- http//sf.net/projects/turtle-p2p
- Linux Installers will be supported now
Windows coming soon...
11Want to be part of the network?
Both queries and results go hop-by-hop
12Feed your Turtle ...
- You should install Turtle F2F
- You need your friends doing this as well
- Keep the network constant online, as your
friends need time to convince their friends as
well to install and use Turtle F2F.
13History of Filesharing
Today is F2F
- 1. Generation Napster - download central from
a server - 2. Generation Gnutella / Emule-Kademlia,
Kazaa- decentral p2p without any server - 3. Generation ANts p2p, Mute, i2Phex-
non-direct, encrypted connections - New 3. Generation F2F - Turtle - from P2P to
F2F/ paradigms - 1. No connections to public, unkown peers! Only
trusted Friends 2. Hopping over friends is
possible non-direct decentral - 3. Asymmetric Encrypted Connections
- 4. Generation pplive, joost - music or TV
streams over p2p

serverless F2F (but without friends-hopping
capabilities yet, so not a F2F network). - See waste.sf.net for another reference model of a
friends list (but with public peers and random
added neighbours).
